Samsung’s Foldables Get Healthier, Smarter

Samsung unveiled its latest foldable smartphones on Wednesday, making its top-of-the-line model lighter and slimmer while adding AI features to challenge Apple’s dominance in the premium market. The company is also focusing on health monitoring, introducing new features on its Galaxy Watch and launching a revolutionary new Galaxy Ring.

Despite facing growing competition in the foldable market, Samsung’s market share fell from 81% in 2022 to 63% in 2023. To combat this, Samsung made its Galaxy Z Fold 6 its lightest and slimmest yet, while the Galaxy Z Flip 6 boasts a longer battery life, improved camera, and enhanced cooling.

Samsung is incorporating AI features such as “listening mode” for simultaneous translation with Galaxy Buds and AI search that solves math problems step-by-step. The new Galaxy Watch offers FDA-approved sleep apnea monitoring, cycling data measurements, and diabetes-related biomarker tracking. The Galaxy Ring, a years-in-the-making product, continuously monitors heart rate, stress levels, and can control phone functions.

The products will be available in South Korea, North America, and Europe starting July 24. Samsung’s strategy focuses on attracting both existing and new users in the premium market by offering a unique combination of cutting-edge foldable technology and advanced health monitoring features.
